Cells
Every AEGIS module is built around one cell format. Today that format holds a Hithium lithium iron phosphate cell, and every system we ship is built on it. Next, it is the starting point for a cell of our own.
Inside every Shield today
Hithium 314 Ah lithium iron phosphate
Available nowLarge-format prismatic LFP cells made by Hithium, sixteen to a module. LFP is the most thermally stable mainstream lithium-ion chemistry, and it does not use nickel or cobalt.
This is the production cell, and it stays that way. AEGIS keeps building every system on Hithium LFP while Sodium-IronX and the AEGIS battery management system are developed and qualified. Nothing about a system you buy today waits on either program.
Why one format matters
- The module is designed around the industry-standard 314 Ah prismatic format, so a new cell, including our own, can go in without redesigning the system.
- Cell-level management. Every cell's voltage and temperature is watched around the clock and the cells are balanced.
- Certified at the module. Modules carry UL 1973 and UL 9540 certification, with UL 9540A test-method testing completed.

Sodium-IronX™
In developmentOur own sodium iron battery cell, designed to be made in the United States from abundant materials: sodium and iron.
Sodium-IronX does not replace anything in a system shipping today: production continues on Hithium LFP until the new cell has passed its own testing and certification. Layer recipes, drawings, test plans and the manufacturing plan are on the prototype pages for qualified investors and partners who sign our NDA.
Two designs on the drawing board
Both share the 314 Ah prismatic can that holds today's LFP cell, a hard-carbon anode, and aluminum foil on both electrodes, so there is no copper in the cell and no lithium, nickel or cobalt. Drawings and 3D models for both are complete (Rev A, October 2026); A-samples come next, and every figure here is a design estimate until they are tested.
