What does AEGIS make?

Aegis Energy Systems Inc is a manufacturer of battery energy storage systems. The Shield line covers homes (Home Shield 3.0, 18 kW), 208 V commercial sites (Shield 4.0 Commercial, 30 kW) and 480 V buildings (Shield 6.0, 60 kW). The Power Container puts 4.8 MWh and 420 kW in one 43 ft container, and the Mobile Welding Power Unit brings 480 V power to a jobsite. AEGIS also builds the 16.1 kWh battery modules inside all of them.

Where are AEGIS systems built?

In San Diego, California. AEGIS designs the systems, assembles the battery modules, cabinets and containers, machines its own parts and writes its own controls and monitoring software. We describe the products as American-engineered and U.S.-assembled, not "Made in USA": the cells and inverters are purchased, and we say exactly where everything comes from on the standards and sourcing table.

What cells are inside an AEGIS system?

Every system shipping today is built on Hithium 314 Ah prismatic lithium iron phosphate cells, sixteen to a module. Production continues on Hithium LFP while AEGIS develops its own Sodium-IronX sodium iron cell, which is designed for manufacture in the United States and enters production only after it passes the same testing and certification as the cells shipping today.

Why lithium iron phosphate?

Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) is the most thermally stable mainstream lithium-ion chemistry, and it does not use nickel or cobalt. AEGIS pairs it with cell-level monitoring and active balancing in every module, and with hardwired, fail-safe shutdown in every system. Read more on the Cells page.

What certifications do AEGIS products carry?

Battery modules: Certified to UL 1973 and UL 9540 · UL 9540A test method, testing completed · UL 9540B pending. Each Power Container receives an NRTL field evaluation through Intertek, with NFPA 855, 68, 69, 70 and 72 as the design basis. Inverter listings to UL 1741 and IEEE 1547 are held by Sol-Ark for each inverter model.

Which inverter does AEGIS use?

Sol-Ark. Each system ships with one inverter model, set up with its batteries before it leaves the factory: the Sol-Ark 18K-2P-N in the Home Shield 3.0, the 30K-3P-208V in the Shield 4.0 Commercial, the 60K-3P-480V in the Shield 6.0, and seven 60K-3P-480V units in the Power Container.

What is the warranty?

12-year standard warranty, extendable to 15, 20, 25 or 30 years. Every system is supported by AEGIS, the manufacturer, for the life of its warranty.

Does AEGIS install the system?

AEGIS is the manufacturer. Installation is performed by a licensed electrical contractor of your choice, and AEGIS supports that contractor and your engineering staff with drawings, startup support and operator training. Each system arrives already paired and configured with its inverter, so the work on site is mechanical and electrical connection.

How is an AEGIS system monitored?

Sentinel Pro monitoring is included with every system and was written by AEGIS. It runs on a small computer at your site, keeps working when the internet is down and syncs to AEGIS when a connection is available. You see your system in CellSight: power flow, every cell's voltage and temperature, energy and savings. Try the live demo.

Can an AEGIS system run off-grid or with a generator?

Yes. The Shield units are rated for off-grid operation, with peak power for motor starting, and the Power Container has separate load centers for loads, grid and generator with a transfer switch into the facility gear. Generator integration with automatic start is an option on the Power Container.

Can a system grow later?

Yes. The Home Shield 3.0 grows from 48 kWh to 145 kWh with the expansion tower. The Shield 4.0 and Shield 6.0 take a second battery string. Power Containers run in parallel, each with its own inverters and transfer switch, so a campus adds containers as it grows.

How do I get a quote, and how long does it take?

Use the contact form, call 858-585-2149 or email sales@aegisess.com. Tell us where the site is, what has to stay powered and for how long, and whether there is utility service or existing solar. A quote comes from the team that designs and assembles the system, usually within one business day. Every system is built to order.

Does AEGIS sell to government agencies and the military?

Yes. AEGIS sells direct to federal, state and local agencies and to defense installations, in the United States and at U.S. installations abroad. Aegis Energy Systems Inc is a small business; its SAM.gov registration status, NAICS codes and a capability statement are on the Government and defense page, along with a plain statement of where every part comes from, including a note on Section 154 of the FY2024 National Defense Authorization Act.

What are Titan, Zeus, CC-1 and Sodium-IronX?

Programs in development at AEGIS. Titan is a cell-monitoring board, Zeus is a string controller and CC-1 is a communications card; together they are the AEGIS battery management system. Sodium-IronX is the AEGIS sodium iron cell, with two 314 Ah designs drawn: Gen1-314 (sodium iron phosphate-pyrophosphate) and S14-314 (sodium iron sulfate). None of them is in production yet. Prototype pages are open to qualified investors and partners who sign the AEGIS non-disclosure agreement through the investor portal.

How is AEGIS pronounced, and what does the name mean?

A-jiss. In Greek myth the aegis was the shield of Zeus and Athena; the name also stands for American Energy Guardian Infrastructure Security. Aegis Energy Systems Inc of San Diego, California is not affiliated with other companies that use the Aegis name.
