Privacy policy

This policy explains what Aegis Energy Systems Inc ("AEGIS", "we") collects through aegisess.com, the AEGIS investor and partner portal, and AEGIS monitoring, how we use it, and the choices you have. AEGIS is based in San Diego, CA.

The short version

• We collect what you send us and what we need to run and secure our services.
• We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
• The public website uses no advertising cookies, no third-party analytics and no tracking pixels. Our fonts and images are served from our own servers.
• The portal uses one necessary cookie to keep you signed in, and logs activity to protect confidential information.

Information we collect

When you contact us

If you call, email or use the request form, we collect your name, email address, phone number, organization, and what you tell us about your site and needs.

When you use the investor and partner portal

To give you access, we collect your name, email address, title, organization and phone number. When you sign an agreement online we keep a record of it: the agreement version, your typed name, the signature you draw, the date and time, your IP address and your browser type. We keep the signed agreement as a PDF and give you a copy.

To protect confidential information, we record sign-ins (time, IP address, browser), failed sign-in attempts, the pages you open, the documents you download and the videos you play. Pages and documents are watermarked with your name and the time. If you turn on 2-step verification, we store its secret in encrypted form. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes.

When AEGIS monitors your system

AEGIS systems include Sentinel Pro monitoring. The monitoring computer at your site records system data such as battery, cell and inverter readings, energy flows, temperatures and alarms, and sends it to AEGIS when the internet is available. We use it to operate, support and service your system, to honor your warranty and to improve our products. Monitoring accounts also hold your name, email address and site details. Your purchase or service agreement may add terms for this data.

When you visit the website

Like most web servers, ours keep short-term logs of requests: IP address, browser, the page requested, and the time. We use them to keep the site running and secure. The public site does not set cookies. The monitor demo runs in your browser and does not send what you change to us.

How we use information

• To answer requests, prepare quotes, and sell, deliver and support AEGIS systems.
• To create and secure portal accounts, enforce non-disclosure agreements and investigate misuse.
• To monitor, maintain and service installed systems and administer warranties.
• To keep our services secure and working, and to comply with law.

Sharing

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only:

• with service providers who host or operate our systems for us (for example, cloud hosting and email), under confidentiality obligations;
• when required by law or legal process, or to protect the rights, property or safety of AEGIS, our customers or others;
• in connection with a merger, financing or sale of all or part of our business, subject to this policy.

How long we keep it

• Contact and quote requests: as long as needed to answer you and maintain the relationship, generally up to three years.
• Signed agreements and portal activity records: for the life of the agreement and the confidentiality obligations it creates, and as long as needed to enforce them.
• Monitoring data: for the life of the system and its warranty, unless your agreement says otherwise.
• Web server logs: generally up to 90 days.

Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, 2-step verification for portal accounts, account lockout, access logging and least-privilege access for our staff. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your password and authenticator device private and tell us right away if you suspect misuse.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Some records, such as signed agreements and the access records that go with them, we may need to keep to enforce an agreement or to meet a legal obligation; we will tell you if that applies. You can opt out of non-essential email from us at any time.

California residents. Where the California Consumer Privacy Act applies, you have the right to know, access, correct and delete personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for using these rights. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. We treat Global Privacy Control and similar browser signals as a request to opt out of selling or sharing, which we already do not do. Because we do not track visitors across other websites, our response to browser "Do Not Track" signals is the same. You may use an authorized agent; we may need to verify your identity and the agent's authority.

Children

Our services are for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change is significant, we will give notice on this site or by email before it takes effect.
